Thanks to everyone who helped with this work and for those of you who support my work. I've learned a lot from taking writing seriously and finishing so many short stories. Going forth, the writing quality in my work is going to be of a much higher level. What's next? Well, for me, I am taking a break from working on these creative endeavors for this universe for a month. Partly because I'm burnt out from deadlines and also because I need to look for a good job now. I saved up a lot of money and gave myself a 4 month break to make content/improve skills and to see if I could make a living off of this. I did make a bit of a profit, but it's not sustainable to live like this at this moment, so these creative endeavors are returning to being a side hobby. I'm very grateful that I had this opportunity to do something like this as not everyone does. I'm also glad that I took this opportunity and not let it slip away.
I'll most likely see you guys back on December 1st. Until then, I hope you all have a good month. Stay warm. Have good food. Adios, ~Rox

~Rox Tada!! The first hand drawn illustration of the Lavender Incubus. Well... I'm kind of running out of time to spend any more time on this or else I can't release "Lavender Chase" on time. I'll probs come back to each of these illustrations later and fully paint them. Anyways, this is just to keep you guys interested.
See you later! ~Rox Hello Internet,
I'm back from my vacation. Had a pretty relaxing time adventuring in the real world to parts unknown. I didn't have any electronic device other than my phone. Before I left, I had two stories - "Azure Chase" and "Lavender Chase" - both sent in for copyediting and a second round of developmental edit. My editor finished while I was gone. This morning, I opened up the documents... and it's going to be a lot of work. The finish line is far away again. However, they did a very thorough job, and that only means the final stories are going to be way better. I'm just whining because I'm still a pretty new, professional writer. I put in so much work to those drafts... then I just get more feedback to fix things... that's why I'm a bit whiny... I'll be fine. Just need to work up the nerve to finish these drafts. In the meantime, I've been working on getting some illustrations ready. I've really been inspired to draw Fred, especially after walking around in a city full of inspiration. Aight. I'm tired. Talk to you all later, ~Rox Well internet,
With great pleasure I can say I've completed the developmental edit revisions "Lavender Chase" and "Azure Chase." By that, I mean I have managed to steel myself against the words of the professionals, kept my ego at bay, and have massively transformed these ideas from what they were merely shells of before. I feel happy... tired... in pain... but glad I was able to finish it before I left on vacay for a week. They have both been sent in to get a copy edit done. Then, when I return, I'll look at the writing again to do the final polish of edits, and the manuscript will be done. Starting from "Lavender Chase," I plan on using hand drawn illustrations. That'll be a bit of a tight deadline to hit by the end of the month, but it's a lot better than the time I left for "Pink Chase" at that time. "Azure Chase" which will be released next month, is doing really good for pacing. I'll have so much time to really up the illustrations in that one. In the background, "Crimson Chase" had a high level manuscript critique. I decided to try one of those out because these line by line developmental edits are hard to take emotionally. I'll get my hands on that after I've gotten "Cyan Chase," which is in really rough state right now, to the point where I can get a developmental editor to look at it. I have got to say, reading "The Emotional Craft of Fiction" by Donald Maass, it has completely taken my writing to the next level. It's night and day with these drafts of when I started writing to after I read that book writing. I encourage anyone who wants to tell a good story to read it. That book supplemented with my editors' feedback just made things so much clear to my understandings. Like, goodness, I'm like level 23 when I was on level 5 (in Pokemon terms). All right, see you guys after a week. ~Rox Just "finished" revising "Azure Chase" after it went through a developmental edit. I put "finished" in quotations because I'm just done with it. I had three pages in the middle to go through again, but I got tired. Those pages are good enough and I made the effort to make a couple of changes. Let's see if my copy editor finds any plot holes, but I'm done with it.
I just started reading the in-depth version of my developmental editor's comments on "Lavender Chase" now. He's professional about it, and I just don't want to do the work. I'm so tired... but "Lavender Chase" has to come out at the end of this month. I only have a few more hours before my family returns home. Ahhhh.... Okay, I'm just venting out the stress and frustration. Boy do I hate deadlines. I'm going back to work. Howdy Internet,
How are you all doing today? I'm quite sick right now, but I don't want to just lose these days when there is another short story that's supposed to be coming out by the of this month. Plus, I want to be ahead of the curve for next month too (also because I'm on vacation for a third of this month). So I've been working on "Lavender Chase" and "Azure Chase" today. "Lavender Chase" is set mostly inside an abandoned, mental health facility and has more horror overtones. "Azure Chase" is more of a psychological horror with an overpowered creature is going through almost a mental breakdown. Both of them feature an incubus. Currently, I'm going through the developmental edits for each as suggested by their respective editors. Their feedback is taking my writing to the next level. For instance, the last 4 days, created and redid 4 scenes to do more showing than telling. I've written a total of about 6700 extra words in that time. The biggest difference in my previous writing with my current writing is that there will be more world building, an emphasis on showing rather than narration, and really developing the characters and their relationships with each other through an emotional journey. The incubus's powers and demeanor are getting highlighted a lot more. It doesn't mean its not painful reading the feedback for the first time, however. So I'll be spending the next 24 hours slogging through them. I will say this, "A Long Journey VN" is going to have so much better writing than it had years ago. But alas, that will be restarting after I get at least the first chapter of "Butterfly Kisses" done. Well, that's my update. Until later, ~Rox |
