"A Long Journey" is doing pretty well in the writing phase. Just finished the first draft of episode 4. I had to make it into two episodes though because in creating moments, the first half could easily stand on its own.
Right now, I'm working on the first draft of episode 5: The Tournament Episode. Tournaments are important to the economy of the Quartz Region because it shows who the top fighters are, thus, the top fighters are granted more missions, and more missions mean more money. I want to finish writing through episode 7 before I start posting any artwork up. After the writing is done, there will be a mad dash to finish all the cutscenes and play test through wording. I'm going to circle back to both episode 1 and 2 again because for the sake of time, I had cut out some important bits. Like, episode 1 is supposed to be the hook-line-and-sinker for those of you who like to play games, but even I'm not getting that feeling. Gotta work hard some more. Well, the reason for telling you all that is until all the writing and cutscenes are finished, I won't be publishing a new episode. However, follow along with the blog to see the progress. Aight, that's all from me for now.

Howdy viewer,
I'm going back to my regular updates of twice a month now that the final semester of university is done. Lots of things planned for the future. ///DEVELOPMENT STORIES I am currently writing episode 4 now. There is SO much work needed to be done. As I stated previously, I'm really getting the hang of writing and putting more risky choices. It'll be a pretty lengthy episode as it covers two important events. One being the introduction of Yasha, the beautiful super model that enthralls Warrick. You'll have the choice to choose between who you would like to travel with: Auferre or Yasha. Then the other part of the episode will be the introduction of these world wide fighting tournments on Pangaea. These tournaments help determine who is the strongest on the planet, obviously, but can help with getting mercenary jobs. After all, it's all about the economy and everyone needs to have a job. If you remember from the previous update, I had a fan service character by the name of Bautista. He'll make his debut in that episode as well. Actually, not having a time crunch or extra homework, I can really focus on the story now. There was a lot more humor I wanted to incorporate, but I just couldn't slow down long enough to remember. Now, I get to put in all the jokes. :D ///NEW STUFF Well, as I mentioned before, I was lacking software and a computer. Good news is that I managed to get an old computer working pretty decently. Then, I bought Manga Studio 5 to do some drawing, mostly cutscenes. So even without flash, I'm able to progress quite nicely. ///FUTURE So, I'm going to revisit episode 1, again, and add in more cutscenes. Definately. As for episodes 4 - 6, they are coming along. Once I nail the the writing, finish ALL the cutscenes, and test out the story paths, I'll work on publishing them at that time. That's all for me right now. I'll launch another update next month. Have a good one! ~Rox The first three episodes are officially completed today! It’s ironic, as I complete my last day of schooling, I also have completed the first three episodes of “A Long Journey.” That’s right, Episode 2 has been majorly updated. Here is the series's trailer: ///What’s new with this re-release? Well for starters, it actually makes sense now. I was rereading the story and even I had no idea what I was trying to say. So a lot of the writing has been redone, as well as adding in some better visuals, and a couple of cutscenes. ///Development Stories I had thought that since everything is in place, episode 2 wouldn’t take too long to remastered… I was wrong. Seeing what I had done only months ago, and how much I’ve improved since then. I can also see why it didn’t do as well as I thought it would before. It’s kinda cool, seeing what you had inside your head finally start becoming a reality. Despite my previous failures, these successes easily overweight them. I guess I can call myself an indie game developer now…. That’s awesome! I can’t remember if I ever said this, but I love creating games for people to play them. But in actuality, this feeling didn’t fully hit until I was poisoned in the Detroit flood of 2014. I was so sick, and I couldn’t really move. My mind as stressed from the trauma. Thought I was financially wrecked at that point. All I wanted was for something to take my mind off of the situation. That’s when the free games other people had made really brightened my day. I know I’m not the only who gets sick, or just super stressed, so I wanted to give back to the world, just as other people had helped me out in one of the most toughest times of my life. ///Future Plans As of today, I had to turn in my computer I was borrowing from my school. Right now, I have no computer nor publishing software. That being said, this series will still be in development. I’ve already starting writing for Episode 4 – 6. As I was mentioning before, the writing is such a key factor in Visual Novels, more so than the artwork, and I need to nail that. So, for the next few months, I’ll be making sure the story is solid and some cutscenes done. Once I can get a job, I’ll be able to get back to actually releasing the episodes again. Wish me luck in finding one! Now for the reason why I missed the second update in April. This guy: A New Character: Bautista I wanted to finish him before the month was over, but my exams took over too much of my life, and I just finished him this morning. He’ll be introduced in Episode 4, and becomes a very important character in the series.
///Thank YOU Some special news: This game on Gamejolt has had over 1000 plays as of this month. That’s AWESOME~! We have 103 followers, and we’re still going strong! And I know there are a lot of people following the website as well. If I didn’t have your support, I think I’d still be making really terrible games. Because I have you, I work harder at these games than most of the things I do right now. So thank you all very much, and I hope you guys will continue staying with the series. To those of you graduating, congratulations, and for everyone else: HAPPY SUMMER! I’ll talk to you later! ~Rox |
